2021 WAY OF REMEMBERING PILGRIM

Spirit, joy, culture, ritual, cuisine, connection, knowing, rhythm, movement, royalty, transcendence, and transformation are just a few of the words one could use to describe Prometra’s Way of Remembering pilgrimage 2021. This years WOR pilgrimage was accentuated by the coronation of the King, Prometra’s President, Dr. Erick V. Gbodossou. Being able to participate in just a fraction of Dr. Gbodossou’s coronation as His Majesty Meto Ahoussan IX, was humbling. Not because of the pomp and circumstance of “royalty”, but because of the calling of our collective ancestors have placed on his life. The calling and the mission, to heal humanity, restore African Sovereignty, and welcome the African diaspora back home.

During this pilgrimage. participants were able to regularly pray, receive divination, participate in rituals together, collectively synthesize and discuss Vodun stories, thought, and ritualistic practices with the King, break down the social barriers that have divided people of African descent throughout the diaspora, and most importantly...experience Prometra’s Door of Return. A site, spiritually charged with the pain and anguish of enslavement, but undone by our ritualistic returning to the home of our ancestors. This ritualistic healing is one that has to be experienced. Words could not do it justice!

In the words of Beyoncé we have to find our way back, because we are part of something way bigger! It is time to heal and apart of that healing is returning. Prometra’s website states “The world is in a crisis originating from the wounds of slavery, genocide, and colonialism. Today, there is a new awakening and a movement for justice, peace, and healing. This is the time to take the journey into wounds of humanity and make the proper sacrifices to bring forth healing before its too late.” This pilgrimage is the first step to our healing! The king is calling for us. Let’s answer his call.
