International Women Day - by Prometra International 03/03/2011 @ 11:34 Today, the whole world celebrates the date of March 8th, the International Women Day officialized in 1977 by the United Nations. In the beginning, the idea of such an event was proposed by the Communist Clara Zetkin, member of the German democratic social party, at the time of the 2nd Conference of the Women Socialist held in Copenhagen in 1910. To reinforce this revolutionary prospect for the women, Lenin made a decree in 1921, March 8th as the Women Day and is followed by China in 1924. The socialist initiative wanted to pay tribute to the many revolts led by the women who marked the European political life since 1911. The contents conferred on the celebration of March 8th always articulate around the demands valuing the role of the woman, relegated wrongly and in vain to the social slowness by many political and ideological systems of which the patriarchy which even dared to find some foundation in scriptures. In Africa, the first forms of solidarity with this Day concern rather the patriotic actions of the civil society while the States were satisfied to dedicate in other periods, ceremonies in the honor of the African Woman. Now anchored in customs, the symbol of March 8th rehabilitates undoubtedly, the historical value of the women and all the martyrs whose sacrifice was for the equality of the sexes in the respect of their natural specificity.
