ISESCO(Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) - by Prometra International 22/06/2012 @ 07:51 Workshop of Validation of the Work: Endogenous knowledge and know-how in Africa: the case of traditional medicine, written by Dr Erick GBODOSSOU, with the support of ISESCO![]() Opening ceremony guests’ floor ISESCO organized from June 13 to 16, 2012 in Niamey, capital of the Islamic culture for sub-Saharan Africa in 2012, a sub regional seminar to validate a study sponsored and entitled: ‘‘Endogenous knowledge and know-how in Africa: the case of traditional medicine”. This seminar joined together local participants, but also, those who took part in the meeting held in Dakar on the topic: « Articulation of Traditional Knowledge and Know-how with Modern Research”, Hotel Al Afifa, 26- 28 July, 2006. One of the strong recommendations of this meeting was to invite ISESCO to support the drafting of a work on the endogenous knowledge’s role in Africa’s sustainable development. The compilation of this work was entrusted to Dr. Erick Gbodossou, President of PROMETRA International who in 2006 ensured the meeting expertise. The work poses the problems of Endogenous Knowledge, in the context of the modernism where the African countries cannot think of their historical progress, by making culture, a forgotten dimension of the development. Traditional Medicine is an illustration of the use of such knowledge, in the search for local solutions to folk medical problems. The mission of the participants in the Niamey seminar consists in amending and enriching the first outline of the work, for its edition. PROMETRA International
